These products combined allowed us to set a new record for our class and almost a new Front Wheel Drive Record for the skid pad. Had the rain not been falling during my run at Tire Rack and we had not run out of Fuel (this time the tank was over 1/2 full - too many G forces) this record would have been higher.

As stated in our original plan the car is designed to pull 1.02g force on the skid pad from our data calculation and there is no doubt that with the help of our sponsors this vehicle is capable of much more than what was achieved on this damp cold day in South Bend!

Overall this once again proves the Hot Rod Hybrid is the best handling, best performing sedan Hybrid in the World! can’t wait for more power.

So, after the event is getting towards it’s end I can finally post up some photos!!!

Now I wish I had taken more of each track and team etc…

Well be prepared, I am about to go photo crazy !!!

Here is a picture of the beautiful Megan tearing up the road in the “Hot Rod Hybrid”… Which reminds me in middle of redneck country some guy at a stop looked at the Altima with Megan driving and said, bygum she’s a hot ride. To which I just smiled.

Day 7 - Beaver Run Session #2 Recap — “catch me if you can part 2″

I must say we have had pretty good results with our Hybrid so far! We have had performances that have put to shame very fast vehicles. Today, our speed caused a problem…we caught traffic.

At the One Lap of America vehicles are started 15 seconds after the car in front in a group of 3-6 cars to minimize the chance of one car catching another car. The problem arrises when a car is catching the car in front as this slows the times down for both cars to allow a pass. If the car in front is faster in the straights and slower in the corners (which is always the case with our Hybrid due to it’s amazing handling and less than rocket based straightline performance), this causes an even bigger problem. A lower hp car must either be let by or dare to make a pass in a corner by carrying higher entry speed and racing past the slower car. This is what happened in our session #2. We caught a car that was very fast in the straights, but did not have the handling of our HRH (hot rod hybrid). We caught this slower car at the last turn after the first lap (for those doing the math we made up 15 seconds on the car in 1 lap). Since the driver had the faster car on the front straight a pass was not granted and we ended up being “stuck” behing the slower car and loosing about 5 seconds of overall performance on our times.

Even with this “hold up” we still put in an excellent time on our third lap and set what will become the Hybrid Vehicle Record for Beaverun with a time of 1:10. If you want some comparisons, that is about the same time as a stock BMW E36 M3 Would lap the track.

While I was a bit disappointed in the overall time, our very quick lap in the slick damp condition once again show the abilities of our suspension, tires, wheels and the chassis of the car to perform above expectation!

Day 7 - Beaver Run Notes Session 1

After our all night drive and waking up to repairing the power brake booster on the car, we made it to the track just before the final run group of the morning hit the track. This was good news as I thought we would be “late” for the session and incur a 10 second track penalty…whew.

Even though I had been to Beaverun in the past, getting familiar with the blind crests and turns took about two laps. This cost some time on the opening session, but we still had a good overall result. In the next session, I hope the track will dry some and we can put down some great laps.
